COMBINING SENTENCES

1. Samuel L. Clemens or also known as Mark Twain who lived in Hartford for several years is a classical American novel and the author of Huckberry Finn.


2. Mark Twain's very elaborate and elegant house was in an area called Nook Farm on Farmington Avenue and he was a neighbor of Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin.


3. Mark Twain's home has windows and a balcony that overlook his large side porch which today, people say that reminded them of a steamboat that Twain piloted on the Mississippi in his youth.


4. Mark Twain was one of the first three people in Hartford to own a telephone which was first used commercially in nearby New Haven but practically, there was no one to talk to that's why he never really liked this newfangled gadget.


5. Mark Twain lost a fortune investing on industrial inventions like his elaborate Paige typesetter; unfortunately, his machine was developed at the same time as the Linotype machine which was much simpler and less expensive.


6. After Mark Twain's beloved daughter, Susy, died of spinal meningitis in the Hartford Home, he never felt the same about his house again that's why he left and returned only once for the funeral of his friend, Charles Dudley Warner.
